Whole-house net-zero remodel entirely within the original shell of the home

This Net-Zero whole-house remodel transformed a typical ranch house into a mid-century modern marvel. Working within the existing footprint of the home, we breathed new life into the space with a new open floorplan with a sleek, minimalist aesthetic from the trim work with anodized aluminum to the final finishes. The wave-like new rooflines complement the round cutouts in the patio roof and front door. The walnut hearth adds warmth, even when the fireplace isn’t lit.

Featured in the 2016 Landmarks of the Future Home Tour, this amazing makeover includes energy-efficiency and sustainability. We performed a complete deep energy retrofit for the entire building envelope — insulation, walls, ceilings and windows, as well as:

• Solar electricity generated by a rooftop photovoltaic power station
